It looks like the craze of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is not going anywhere soon. Recently, German multinational corporation Adidas announced the launch of its NFT collection.
Named Originals, Adidas has developed this NFT drop in partnership with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics, and Gmoney. With this, the company is venturing into the hugely popular and diverse NFT industry along with the Metaverse.
Previously, Adidas has partnered with the U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase and praised the concept of Metaverse last month. Moreover, Adidas has also hinted that it is working with the popular metaverse title The Sandbox.
The first Adidas Originals NFT collection pays homage to the creators, providing them virtual wearables in the gaming metaverse The Sandbox. Other than that, they’ll also receive physical products such as a hoodie, a tracksuit, and Gmoney’s orange beanie.
According to the details available, The Adidas Originals NFT collection will go on sale on 17th December. Besides this, owners will “receive exclusive access to Adidas Originals experiences and product.”
Adidas Originals marketing and communications vice president Erika Wykes-Sneyd said in a statement,
“As part of our ambition to celebrate ideas that are defining a new age of originality, we’ve landed at the forefront of creativity, which is the open metaverse.”
He also added:
“It’s a natural place for Adidas Originals to enter: a wild world where possibilities are truly limitless and where anyone can express and be rewarded for their most original ideas.”
Users can purchase the following NFTs at the web portal adidas.com/metaverse at 0.2 ETH per unit. All the virtual and physical wearables will eventually reach users in the next year.
