Gemini Exchange back online after delay

Gemini, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, has returned online after over seven hours of being down due to scheduled maintenance.

A status page of by exchange said, “The Gemini Spaceship will undergo scheduled maintenance on Thursday, December 15th, from 10:00 pm – 12:30 am ET.”

However, the service didn’t restore, as promised, and was down for over seven hours. The crypto exchange said it restored its services at 10:30 UTC.

“Gemini is investigating reports of service disruptions. All customer accounts and funds remain completely secure,” the exchange said in a statement.

Earlier this week, the Gemini crypto exchange announced that customers have received a series of phishing emails from an unauthorized person. This was a result of a breach which resulted in the contact information for some Gemini customers being leaked. The Gemini product security team announced that the only available data includes email addresses and incomplete phone numbers. None of the company’s systems or funds was impacted by this breach.
