Binance NFT marketplace has revealed its partnership with Saint Petersburg-based State Hermitage Museum. They’ll issue tokenized collectibles of various renowned artists, including Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh.
Binance unveiled this through a blog post today. It also mentioned when these NFTs would be up for sale. Also, all Binance users are eligible to participate in the auction.
In their blog post, Binance talks about tokenizing the artworks of Da Vinci’s Madonna Litta, van Gogh’s Lilac Bush, Claude Monet’s Corner of the Garden at Montgeron, and Giorgione’s Judith.
Each masterpiece will have two NFT copies. Binance NFT marketplace will auction one copy. On the other hand, The museum will keep the other copy. Hermitage’s director, Mikhail Piotrovsky, will sign both the NFT copies.
The blog post also emphasizes the project as “a new level of accessibility to the Hermitage’s collection”. Along with that, the NFTs, “highlights the importance of digitization as a new stage in the world of collecting artworks.”
On this partnership, Piotrovsky said that the museum’s intention leverages NFTs and digital tech, stating:
“New technologies, in particular blockchain, have opened a new chapter in the development of the art market, led by the ownership and the guarantee of this ownership.”
Helen Hai, the head of Binance NFT, also spoke on this new project:
“We highly appreciate the opportunity to cooperate with The State Hermitage; together, we are making history.”
The State Hermitage Museum will receive all the proceeds from the sale. About the tokenized copies, those will be seen at the Museum’s upcoming NFT art exhibition, slated this fall.
