Ethereum’s Founder opens his wallet for India’s COVID Relief fund

Ethereum’s founder, Vitalik Buterin has donated 500 ETH coins to India’s crypto COVID-19 relief fund. As per Etherscan, the founder donated 500 Ether coins, which is worth $2,030,580. Apart from ETH, Buterin has also donated 50 trillion ( around $1.2 billion) Shiba Inu coin (SHIB), after many meme cryptocurrency creators donated significant amounts of their respective tokens to the Ethereum founder.

He has donated to India’s crypto COVID-19 relief fund which is a “community-run fund delivering relief during the ongoing Covid crisis in India.” It was created by Sandeep Nailwal, who is also e founder of Polygon which is “a framework for building and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks.” according to its website.

Shortly after these donations, Buterin’s name started trending on Twitter.

The donation from Buterin comes as India has continued to face a surge in COVID-19 cases and fatalities over the past few weeks. According to covid19india.org, India reported 3,62,632 cases and 4,128 fatalities on May 13.

In addition to the donations by Buterin, Brett Lee, a former Australian international cricket star also made a donation in the form of one bitcoin to India’s crypto COVID relief fund.
