Switzerland launches its first crypto stamp

We had previously covered that the United Kingdom postal service will launch crypto vouchers that customers can redeem for crypto. Now, it looks like the postal service of Switzerland has also taken an interest in the new technology with crypto stamps.

The Swiss Post will launch a one-of-its-kind crypto stamp on 25th November. The crypto stamp consists of two parts. One part is the original stamp with a price tag of 8.90 francs. However, every crypto stamp has a related digital image.

The digital image contains one of the possible 13 designs. Moreover, users can store & collect these designs on a blockchain. Following that, they can trade/exchange it online.

The Swiss Post is trying to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds. They are aiming to bring the concept of stamp collections to the blockchain spectrum.

As of now, the Swiss Post issues about 50 different new stamps every year. These stamps have high differentiation in terms of materials, designs, and even forms. However, the crypto stamp will mark a new road for the postal service of Switzerland, bridging the gap between the world of stamps and the crypto universe.

Customers don’t know the digital design which is linked to the particular crypto stamp. They discover it by scanning the QR code printed next to the stamp. After scanning the QR code, customers can view their digital crypto stamp online. Talking about the designs, 13 designs have a specific rarity. There are 65,000 copies of the common digital design. On the other hand, there are 50 copies of the rarest design.
