With the meteoric rise of NFT last year, many companies are aiming to venture into this space as soon as possible. Recently, multinational music corporation, Universal Music Group (UMG) announced its partnership with the NFT platform, Curio.
Basically, Curio positions itself as the home for digital collectibles from popular television shows, graphic novels, movies, etcetera. Besides this, the platform partners with various big names in the industry in order to create fun collections & experiences.
UMG announced this news yesterday, saying that they’ll take help from Curio for “bolstering future NFT projects from its roster of global artists and labels”. Also, UMG is hoping to “provide greater scalability and flexibility to issue authentic fan-orientated collectibles, carefully curated for each project.”
The company has a wide array of recording artists including Sting, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lil Wayne, Adele, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Coldplay, and more.
UMG’s executive vice president of the digital strategy unit, Michael Nash talked about this announcement:
“UMG and our labels focus on developing NFT projects that authentically engage and speak to artists’ fanbases. With Curio, our labels will have a secure and dedicated platform to host these premium projects. Moreover, it’ll also provide new opportunities for collectors and fans from around the world to acquire unique pieces.”
In addition to that, Nash said that their company is also focusing on Web3, stating:
“UMG is focused on developing new opportunities in this space that place our artists and labels at the forefront, working to ensure that the evolution of Web3 provides exciting new avenues for their creativity.“
