Uganda National Museum (UNM), one of Africa’s oldest museums, is set to create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the unique artefacts on display at its facility and sell them thru a partner on the Binance marketplace.
The Museum has partnered up with software development firm Murcom, which will create NFTs using their proprietary MUDA NFT platform. The firm is planning to sell those NFTs on the Binance NFT marketplace.
Murcom said in a blog post:
This partnership with the National Museum will see us set up an online web page that will be used to display the NFTs and the items that the Museum represents. We shall take professional photos of the different items and convert them into digital artworks after which we shall apply these digital artworks on the blockchain and create the afore-mentioned NFTs.
The Murcom director added that NFTs for items such as Ugandan cultural pieces, pre-historic pieces, the royal regalia, and ancient tools would be created. The objective of this project is to raise awareness and funds for the museum.
Binance will launch its NFT marketplace for users on June 24, where MUDA and others will participate in Binance NFT’s ‘100 creators’ campaign. This is an exclusive campaign to support and promote innovative creators worldwide and spotlight NFT pieces from different cultures.
