FC Barcelona to Launch Iconic Historical Moments as NFT

Football Club Barcelona – commonly referred to as Barça – has decided to release an NFT (non-fungible token) collection to depict epic moments from its nearly 122-year history.

The initiative became possible after the team signed a global partnership with Ownix- an NFT marketplace based on the Ethereum blockchain.

The Spanish football club is the latest sports team to join the non-fungible token market. The National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and even World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have all entered the NFT sphere already. Which just proved the growing popularity of blockchain-based digital assets.

“New way to connect with fans” – Joan on NFT announcement

Joan Laporta, the President of the mighty franchise, believes that they have the largest fanbase. And connecting with NFT space will provide them with a new way to connect with their fans.

Barça has a very large fanbase around the world. And the Club is constantly looking for new ways to connect with its fans. And we believe that creating these NFTs is a unique opportunity to continue growing and consolidating the Barça brand by bringing unique moments that have made Barça fans dream.

After the announcement of their partnership, the CEO of Ownix Guy Elhanani presented his views. His mission is to bring customers to purchase NFTs. Not because they are marketable, but for the pleasure and pride of owning them.
