Spotify, one of the world’s biggest music streaming services, has recently started a trial, allowing selected artists to promote their NFTs on their platform.
According to reports, selected artists in the US can have a look at this new feature on the Spotify Android app. This is a new addition as previously artists could only promote merchandise and tickets. Now some artists can also promote NFTs as well.
Steve Aoki and The Wombats are one of the selected artists that are participating in the NFT test trial. Moreover, a spokesperson from Spotify talked about this, saying:
“Spotify is running a test in which it will help a small group of artists promote their existing third-party NFT offerings via their artist profiles. We routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve artist and fan experiences. Some of those tests end up paving the way for a broader experience and others serve only as an important learning”.
However, contrary to what most platforms do with the NFT technology, Spotify will only allow promotion of the NFTs. Moreover, users would have to go to external marketplaces for purchasing their favourite artists’ NFTs.
Due to this, Spotify will not take part in the sales of NFTs that the artists promote on the platform. Finally, after the test completion, the company will decide whether they have to make this function operational for all artists.
While all this happened, there is one more interesting survey Spotify is conducting at this moment. Some Spotify users have received a survey from the platform. This survey is mostly related to an individual’s opinion about NFTs in general.
