Binance & Whitebit offers help to refugees in Ukraine

Amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, many communities across industries have come up launching humanitarian efforts. Moreover, the global crypto community has also made its part in doing so. Recently, two crypto exchanges, Binance and Whitebit are planning to provide assistance to the refugees in Ukraine.

Binance has announced that they will launch a “charity crypto card” this month. Residents who had to forcibly leave Ukraine can avail this new program. Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mukhailo Fedorov announced this on Telegram.

The government official stated:

“This is an important support for our citizens during the war.”

Moreover, he noted that Binance will continue to work with its department on crypto adoption. Also, they’re planning to support educational projects in the digital space. All in all, this will help more Ukrainians acquire digital skills and new professional qualifications.

While talking about all this, Fedorov also announced that the crypto exchange has committed $10 million to Ukraine. Furthermore, the official aims to increase this amount to $20 million in the near future.

Besides Binance, Whitebit has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The crypto exchange had stated that this can help those who’ve left Ukraine for escaping the hostile environment. They posted a blog post, saying:

We continue to work, establish cooperation with the state, and help Ukraine. By scaling up the business in other countries, we scale up social projects essential for maintaining democracy and European values.

Also, Whitebit will provide assistance to Ukraine’s Consular Service where it maintains offices. Besides that, they’ll facilitate “the transition of foreign diplomatic institutions to barrier-free digital spaces.”
