Formerly known as Facebook, Meta Inc. has recently filed 8 trademark applications pertaining to a wide range of crypto services and Metaverse. Moreover, it includes cryptocurrencies, crypto trading, blockchain software, and crypto exchanges.
Meta Inc. had filed these trademark applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A USPTO-licensed trademark attorney, Mike Kondoudis tweeted regarding the following development. In his tweet, he mentions applications (serial numbers: 97320155, 97320153, 97320149, 97320147, 97320146, 97320144, 97320140, and 97320136) and their filing date. Meta Inc. had filed all these applications on March 18.
All these applications cover crypto-related products and services such as tokens, blockchain software, and crypto trading.
Kondoudis said that Meta’s applications provide a blueprint for how the company intends to engage in the Metaverse. Also, he said:
“Only a company that has this size of scale and has a hand in the evolution and development of the metaverse can possibly plan on doing everything in these applications.“
Besides Meta, many large corporations are looking to make moves into the industry. Recently, burger chain Burger King had filed a trademark application on the same day as Meta. According to Kondoudis, the burger chain is looking at all sides of the crypto industry, namely NFTs, blockchain, crypto trading, etcetera.
Many financial institutions across the globe are keenly looking at the growth of the crypto industry. Moreover, they are also having a deeper look at its affiliated technologies such as Metaverse and NFTs. Recently, Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has stated that Metaverse is an $8 trillion opportunity.
