While the metaverse space has seen less action compared to its ‘thunderous performance’ last year, companies are still looking to venture into the segment. Recently, popular American fashion house Tommy Hilfiger has decided to enter the metaverse with virtual fashion shows.
The American fashion house will host its virtual fashion shows on the Roblox metaverse. We all know that the metaverse represents an opportunity for all sectors that offer brands innovative solutions to expand exposure and visibility. Moreover, consumers can enjoy a new, more immersive type of experience, thereby creating a stronger connection between customer and business.
As of now, the metaverse segment resembles the gold rush, where each big brand can compete to chase this new revolution. Coming back to Tommy Hilfiger, the fashion house will recreate his fashion show at New York Fashion Week in the Roblox metaverse.
The avatars in the metaverse will wear the same clothes that the models wore during the show. Moreover, users can immediately purchase the physical as well as the virtual versions.
The fashion house believes virtual fashion is a key part of its future. According to them, the metaverse is a great way to democratize access to designer clothes on a large scale. Moreover, it can potentially solve the user privacy issues caused due to “try-on” applications.
However, the following idea requires face and/or body scanning, which allows owners to get hold of a large amount of sensitive data. This is a typical spot for fashion brands as many of its competitors have faced privacy violations.
According to Bloomberg, Louis Vuitton, and Estée Lauder, two big fashion brands are facing violations due to facial geometry scans.
